Good Friday

Six Ways to Promote Good Friday Services

Churches around the world will be celebrating Good Friday, but just because they celebrate it, doesn’t mean people will come. They have to promote Good Friday services and entice members of their congregations to attend. Churches always will get those who go every year because they believe it is one of the holiest days on the Christian calendar.

But, how do churches bring in those who are not sure whether to attend Good Friday services? Here are some ideas.

Social media

Every day, people can look on social media and see arguments and negativity. However, finding positive news on social media isn’t as common. Also, young adults are looking to social media more often than other options. Therefore, it is important for churches to use social media to promote all their services and the good news of the Gospel, but especially Good Friday and Easter Sunday services. They need to explain why people should come to the holiest days. They have to show that Christianity is based on these events that occurred more than 2,000 years ago.

Invitations

Use flyers to invite people in your neighborhood to attend Good Friday and Easter Sunday services. People might be new to the area and looking for a church or they might not be sure when the services take place. They might just need to be invited to come. Churches sometimes assume people will come regardless of whether they are welcomed or invited. It makes the services more special to the members of the congregation when they are invited and welcomed at the door for attending. It brings forth the message Jesus spoke about inviting people to the banquet.

Blog

Churches should have a regular blog that gives important information about services and upcoming events. In their blog, they should talk about why Good Friday is so important to attend. They should talk about the spiritual connection that people feel when they attend Good Friday services. They should honor the holiness of the times leading up to Easter and ask questions that couldn’t be answered unless people attend Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

Bulletin

Most churches have a way to communicate with their congregations. A lot use a bulletin. You should use the bulletin to promote Good Friday services. By listing the time and what people can expect in the bulletin, you are going to reach a number of your congregation. While this is effective for churches, you must do more. However, you don’t want to forget that many of your congregation will look to the bulletin first before they go anywhere else for the information. Therefore, you have to print it in the bulletin. You want to print in the bulletin a few weeks before Holy Week, so people remember about it.

Radio

It would be good to announce your services on the radio. You could buy advertising for the few weeks leading up to Holy Week and mention Good Friday services. You also could be a guest on a Christian radio show or podcast inviting people to attend your services. While you are on the radio, tell your listeners why your service is better than other services. You also want to tell listeners why it is important to take part in Good Friday events.

Community Events

Many areas have Easter events. If you participate, you can ask people to attend your services. You could have a table with information to hand them regarding your services and special events. You could be on hand to answer their questions about Christianity and Good Friday.
