We know the different type of stones and their usage in our lives. Stones are smaller rocks or parts of a big rock. We can call a stone as a small rock. That is why when Simon recognized Christ as Son of God with the help of the Holy Spirit. Jesus immediately said, Simon, you are Peter means you are stone, and I will build my church on this rock.
When Jesus said this rock He meant Himself, not Peter because Peter is stone, but Christ is our rock. But Jesus is also our stone as well. Today, I am going to share how Jesus presented seven types of stones in His personality.
Living Stone
Jesus is our living stone as described in 1 Peter 2:5. We are building a spiritual house where every believer is a living stone that is placed on the Rock (Lord Jesus Christ). In the Old Testament, King Solomon built a temple of God based on stones. In the New Testament, Peter refers to us as living stones like a living temple of God where we need to a holy priest as well as offer holy sacrifices.
Rejected Stone
Lord Jesus is the stone the builders rejected. He was rejected by the world. He came to His own people who rejected Him. Jesus was rejected by those chosen by God. Rejection of Jesus by humans prove that there is a clear difference why humans can not stand with God. They need holiness through the rejected stone to stand on the rejected stone and restore their connection with God. Psalm 118:22
CornerStone
Isaiah 28:16 This prophecy in the book of Isaiah in the Old Testament clearly shows God’s promise about a precious cornerstone. In the New Testament, we see that Apostle Peter describes that cornerstone is Christ Jesus. During the times of kingdoms, builders knew the value of a cornerstone. Without a cornerstone, the building cannot be completed. Even today, the cornerstone is necessary. Jesus being the cornerstone means that we can’t live without Him.
Tested Stone
Jesus is our tested stone because Jesus has passed all the tests that were supposed to be passed by us. Christ has taken our temptation to Him. He has tolerated our suffering. Matthew 21:42
Spiritual Stone
According to Apostle Peter, Jesus Christ is our spiritual stone, a house of spiritual stones to offer our spiritual sacrifices in front of the Living God. 1 Peter 2:6
Precious Stone
Jesus is our priceless stone. Jesus is our rock of faith, power, and protection. Christ’s blood and sacrifice have converted us into a precious stone. Precious stones are valuable and could be considered currency. He has paid for our purchase.
Victory Stone
Jesus is our stone of victory because He had given us victory over sins, the world, the devil and every temptation, which keep us from reaching our heavenly father. According to Matthew 21:44 Jesus is more powerful than a mere victory.
