Four Ways to Use Your Church Sign for Marketing

Drive down the road and when you pass a church, you might see a sign. Many times, the sign lists times for services or a Gospel message. However, a church sign can do so much more than list service times or give an inspirational message. When used correctly, your church sign can be a powerful marketing tool. You could choose a number of different signs that could be attractive to your church. Consider these ways to use your church sign for marketing.

List Ministries and Phone Numbers

Pick a different ministry every week. Take time to describe the ministry on the sign. This would be perfect for a changeable letter section of a sign. It can be changed regularly, so you can ask for volunteers, add a phone number of the ministry you are emphasizing and promote the great works from that ministry. You also can add your church’s logo, name, and graphics. Each ministry can be featured and rotated throughout the year. As your parishioners come to your church, they will see the ministry and commit it to memory. If they need to discuss the ministry, they can call the number.

Request New Parishioners

A church sign is great to attract visitors and new members to a parish. You can feature good works on the sign, but you also could welcome new members with a special message. Visitors often feel out of place. Depending on what wording you use on your sign, you could make visitors happy they are attending your church. This is especially important if they are looking for a new church. The lightbox sign is a good idea to use if your goal is to attract new members or visitors because it is lighted to capture audiences. The signs feature a specific message along with your church name, artwork and any other details you wish to include.

Ask for Donations

Pastors always speak about donations for a specific project or for the church in general from the pulpit. While that is fine because they have parishioners attention, it should be done in other places too. For example, your church sign could be used to ask for donations. If you need money for a specific project, you could use your sign to show that particular project and the goal you are requesting. Many nonprofits use a thermometer to help people see how much is needed. You could use your sign in the same way. You could list how much you have raised and how much is needed. If you need money for the church in general, you could keep parishioners up to date on how much you raise each week and ask for more donations.

Links to Social Media

Your church sign could advertise your social media sites and how members could access your information that way. This would attract young adults who are more savvy at using social media than older parishioners. It could also show that you are using technology to enhance their spiritual experience. It would connect you to those people who feel churches are not keeping with modern America.
