Defining love is difficult because of its many meanings of it. Valentine’s Day is a special holiday that is designed to bring two people together for romance, but it was created to remember St. Valentine, a disciple of Christ.

Valentine’s Day, which is in the middle of winter, begins to show the world that spring is coming.  Crocuses will begin to pop up in the snow-covered gardens some of the time. Other times, the dreary weather makes you depressed, but the flowers and gifts given for Valentine’s Day can cheer a person who is facing dark winter days. However, the reason we are celebrating this day should be to remember that God has put us on this Earth to share happiness and love with each other. We have been given a day in the year to show our love and affection for another person. And, Jesus’ love is the most precious of all. He so loved the world that He died for our sins. As disciples of Christ, we must show our love for each other just as Jesus did.

Why Is Valentine’s Day so Important to Christians?

In my opinion, Valentine’s Day is a sign of sharing love with others as Jesus said I am knocking on the door if somebody listens to me and opens the door I will come inside. If we follow what the Bible said about Valentine’s Day, then we can give the best gifts ever on that day.

The first word we learn about love in the Bible is “love is poured out,” which is from the Greek word “kurros” which means “to pour out”. It is important to recognize that love is not always easy to express. It is sometimes hard to find someone who is truly compatible with whom we want to express love, but Jesus told us to “love one another and love our enemies.”  However, on Valentine’s Day, you want to celebrate a special person. Even when it is difficult to love a person, the act of loving another human as Jesus would is worth it. Love is worth showing even if you don’t feel like expressing it to the one that you love on Valentine’s Day.

According to the Bible, another meaning is “rouse the love of their children”. It is important to realize that children grow, get married, and start families. It is important to understand and appreciate that every day a different person grows and matures and becomes an adult. On this special day, it is a great idea to show children how much you love them and how lucky they are to have you as their parent, and how precious their lives are to you.

On Valentine’s Day, many people give gifts to show that they care and appreciate someone. Jesus gave the best gift of all — His life for our sins. He was born for that purpose. A great way to do this is by sending flowers or prints to your loved ones. Sending flowers has been used for thousands of years as a way to show how much you care to send messages of hope and love to those who mean something to you, but how about sending it to someone you don’t know? Think how much that would spread God’s love.

You also can think about Valentine’s Day this way according to the Bible is “payment for what he has done unto me”. This simply means that it is a message of love and respect for another person. His or her decision to love you back and show you respect means a lot to you. There are many reasons why you should give a person who loves you back some special attention. Not only is it a way to show them how much he or she means to you, but it also shows him or her how much you love him or her. Every relationship is different, so using Jesus as a symbol of your love on Valentine’s Day will resolve all conflicts. Think about loving someone as much as Jesus loves each of us. Say a prayer of thanks for His love for us.

As you can see there are many ways to express your love on Valentine’s Day. However, you can show a true symbol of Valentine’s Day when you look to Jesus as the best symbol of love. Use His image in your dealings with others.
