Questions You Should Ask Yourself Before Looking for Church

If you are not sure if you are happy with your church, you might want to look for another. Here are questions that would help you to know if the church is right for you. The first thing you should consider is what makes you happy is giving glory to the Lord. As Christians, we do not belong to ourselves. We are purchased by the blood of Jesus. We no longer own our lives. So if you feel your current church is glorifying the Lord and at the same time, you are feeling joyful in spirit, and growing in grace that is all you need to fulfill the will of the Father in heaven.

It is easy to say that the church is not in the right place for me because you might not believe it. The problem is that this is never a sure thing. You may have many happy experiences with your church, and you may have some problems too, but that doesn’t mean there is something wrong with the church. Often, people find their church, and then they discover that it is not right for them. Here are some questions that will help you determine if a certain church is right for you.

Do you enjoy attending your church?

This is important. If you have a favorite church service, if you love going to your church, and if you are always looking forward to your church, then you have found your church. You have found it because of how your church makes you feel when you go and will give you signs if this is the perfect place for you or not. If you have an experience that you would like to change, then you might want to change that as well.

Is your church full of people who share your values?

If you do not feel comfortable in a church where there are no people like you in the congregation then your church might be not for you. The church is all about living in the real body of Christ. The church is the body of Christ, and this is what scriptures are teaching us many times that we must be in unity with other brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus. Watch this video below to understand the unity in Christ Jesus.

This Bible study message aims to demonstrate that ALL Christians are to become in UNITY with each other AND in UNITY with God.  As “unity” relates to “PERFECTION” this means that “unity” also relates to Salvation.  “…THAT THEY MAY BE ONE, EVEN AS WE ARE ONE:  23 I in them, and thou in me, that THEY MAY BE MADE PERFECT IN ONE” (John 17:20-23).

The lesson reveals God’s requirements for husbands to “love their wives” and for wives to “submit to their own husbands as they might submit unto Jesus” (Eph 5:25 and Eph 5:22).

Unless ‘UNITY” can be developed in the home between family members and in the church between “brethren,”  it can’t happen between individual Christians and God.

In other words, UNITY between brethren and God is a Salvation issue because God wants His “sons of God on Earth to be as “perfect as He is perfect” (1 Peter 1:16).

Do you feel that the members of your church have the same values that you do?

If not, then your church is not for you. If you do not look at the church members as your family, then they are not right for you. If you look at them as your family, you might feel that you do not have to question them if they are right or wrong because family is all about trust and unity. Family is not about which side. Family is a circle where everyone plays his or her part!

Does your church have a vision or mission statement?

This is very important, and if your church has a mission statement or vision you will know that this is a place for you to go. If your church does not have a vision or clearly defined ministry then there is a big chance that your church is not for you. As a body of Christ, we must know our individual ministries as good soldiers of Jesus Christ. If you are not sure about your ministry? Talk to your Bible teacher or pastor today or give us a call or message, we will help you in identifying that ministry.  A mission statement or vision will let you know what is expected of you in this church. And this will let you know what type of people the church expects to become part of the body.

Is your church growing in number?

If you see a growing church, then you may be able to see that it is a good place for you to join. It could mean that the church is welcoming to people who are not in the church. However, you have to realize that if you are a person who is not growing you might not be accepted to the growing membership.

Do you feel like your church is growing in the direction that you want it to go?

If you are growing in the direction that you want your church to go, then you may have a lot of growth potential.

Are you happy with your current church?

If you answered yes to all these questions, you have found a wonderful church for you. However, you need to realize that you may have to make some changes to make the changes work for you.
