Why Blog Commenting Is a Bad SEO Strategy?

The idea behind blog commenting is that the comments will be read, appreciated and shared, thus increasing the visibility of your site. Unfortunately, this rarely works out as planned.

Blog commenting as an SEO strategy is seldom effective due to the low quality of links generated from it. The majority of blog comment links are nofollow, meaning that they will not count toward link building and SEO efforts. Additionally, blog comment links often come from websites with low domain authority, meaning they are not seen as credible or reliable sources by the search engine algorithms. Furthermore, blog comment links are seen as a form of spam by the search engines and may even lead to penalties against a website.

2. Non-Relevant Content

When it comes to blog commenting, non-relevant content can be a major red flag for search engine algorithms. When a website contains blog comments that don’t have anything to do with the topic at hand, it can look fishy to search engines and can have a negative effect on your SEO rankings. Therefore, it’s important to take steps to prevent spam comments when engaging in blog commenting.

Blog commenting is a time-consuming process, and it does not always yield worthwhile results. It takes research to find relevant blogs, and then each comment needs to be crafted to ensure it meets the blog’s requirements and complies with their guidelines. This process can be quite lengthy, and in some cases, the time required to find and create quality comments could be better spent on alternative activities. Furthermore, because blog comments are often moderated, there is the possibility that your comment will not be approved, meaning all your work was for nothing.

While it may still be a good idea to engage with other blogs and websites to build relationships, it’s best to focus your SEO efforts elsewhere. Instead, focus on creating quality content, optimizing your page titles and meta descriptions, and building backlinks from other sites. With these strategies, you’ll see much better results in terms of SEO and rankings.
